94 East, an American funk group, was formed in December 1975 by Pepe Willie and featured Prince and André Cymone early in their careers. Named after Interstate 94, which runs through Minneapolis–Saint Paul, the group's recordings were made between December 1975 and February 1979 but were only released commercially after 1985, starting with Minneapolis Genius (The Historic 1977 Recordings). The band's frontman, Colonel Abrams, went on to have a short solo career after 94 East disbanded when Prince began his solo stardom. Notable releases include Symbolic Beginning, featuring Prince (1995) and the single "Just Another Sucker", which reached number 80 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart in 1986.
