Incapacitants, a Japanese noise group, was founded in Osaka in 1981 by Toshiji Mikawa as a solo project. Influenced by punk and experimental music, Mikawa began creating noise music using feedback loops and distorted vocals. In 1989, the group released the album Repo on Alchemy Records. Incapacitants gained international recognition with their performance at the Music Unlimited Festival in Wels, Austria, in November 1999. Their subsequent albums, including Quietus (1993), New Movements in CMPD (1996), and Sec End (2004), solidified their status as pioneers of the Japanoise genre. Incapacitants' live performances were also known for their intense and dynamic nature, often described as reminiscent of pro-wrestling matches.
