Steinwolke, a German rock band, was founded in 1976 by three members of the Haas family—Konrad, Clemens, and Andreas—and Dominic Diaz, an adopted son born in Uganda. Uli Schmid from Leonberg joined shortly after as the keyboardist. The band initially gained traction through their unique folk-rock and world music-influenced compositions, performing numerous live shows and releasing three self-produced LPs: Steinwolke (1979), Lionskweet (1980), and Live (1981). In 1983, Steinwolke released their first German-language LP titled Steinwolke, featuring the hit "Katharine, Katharine", which became an evergreen and cult party song. The track remains popular worldwide, frequently appearing in radio hitlists in countries like Japan, Africa, and the Middle East. Following the release of In wilder Zeit (1985), Clemens and Andreas Haas left the band, with Jens Bernewitz and Jens Kramer joining as bassist and guitarist respectively. Subsequent albums included Bitte nicht knicken (1988) and In 80 Tagen (1994). In 2023, Steinwolke reunited nearly in their original lineup to produce a new album titled Glück aus Glas, with the first single of the same name released in 2024.
