Melvin Andrew Grayson, also known as Andrew Tibbs, born on February 2, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio, was an American electric and urban blues singer and songwriter. He began his recording career with Aristocrat Records from 1947 to 1949, releasing his debut single "Bilbo is Dead" backed with "Union Man Blues", both co-written with Tom Archia. These tracks sparked controversy due to their political content. Following the acquisition of Aristocrat by Leonard and Phil Chess, Tibbs signed with Chess Records in 1950 but released only one record, "You Can't Win", before being dismissed. He recorded for Peacock Records in 1951 and had sessions for Savoy and Atco Records in the following years. His final recordings were made in 1962 for M-Pac Records, including his last single release, "Stone Hearted Woman". Tibbs worked for West Electric and performed sporadically in Chicago clubs until his death on May 5, 1991.
