Solo singer, guitarist and songwriter, and member of several bands including Great White, Mitch Malloy was born in Dickinson, North Dakota, on August 26, 1964. With a passion for music from an early age, he learned to play guitar as a teenager, and his clear, powerful voice and keen sense of melody naturally led him to melodic hard rock and AOR, genres that have had a profound impact on his career. After starting out in small regional bands, he decided to try his luck in New York, where he forged a reputation in rock and studio circles thanks to his talent as a performer and composer. His career took a decisive turn when he signed with RCA Records in the early 1990s. In 1992, he released his self-titled debut solo album, Mitch Malloy, produced by Sir Arthur Payson and mixed by renowned producer Desmond Child. The album, which featured contributions from musicians Mickey Curry, Hugh McDonald and Michael Thompson, was driven by catchy compositions and production typical of the melodic hard rock of the time. It brought him international exposure with the single "Anything at All", which reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks, while other titles such as "Nobody Wins in This War" and "Mission of Love" strengthened his reputation among FM rock fans. In the mid-1990s, Mitch Malloy found himself briefly associated with the history of the band Van Halen. After Sammy Hagar's departure, he was auditioned by Eddie Van Halen and even recorded a few demo tracks with the band. Although he didn't officially join the band, the experience fueled his legend and showed just how well his voice and style matched the great ambitions of American rock at the time. Thereafter, he pursued his solo career with regularity, exploring both more modern sounds and the classicism of melodic hard rock. Albums such as Ceilings & Walls (1994), Shine (2001), Faith (2008), Mitch Malloy II (2011) and Making Noise (2016) testify to his ability to write unifying choruses and maintain a powerful yet accessible sound. In 2012, he re-recorded tracks from the Shine album for Shine On. At the same time, he collaborates on other projects, forming the band Malloy 88 for an album of the same name in 2003 and taking part in sessions with Fluid Sol (2004), South of Eden (2010) and Infinity (2012). In 2018, he became lead singer of the great British band Great White, bringing his energy and voice to an iconic hard rock outfit until 2022. Malloy then recorded the album The Last Song, released in 2023.
