Horst Volkmar Fischer, also known as Horst Fischer, born on June 8, 1930, in Oberhermersdorf, Germany, was a trumpeter who began playing at age 11. He enrolled at the Heeresmusikschule in Frankfurt/Main and later switched schools due to wartime circumstances. Fischer's career started with engagements at various orchestras, including Ernst Knauth's Tanzorchester in Chemnitz. In 1948, he joined Kurt Henkels' Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Leipzig, followed by a stint with Erwin Lehn at the Südfunk in Stuttgart in 1951. Fischer released his EP, ...Gibt Seine Visitenkarte Ab, in 1956 and gained recognition with hits like "Ciribiribin" and "Western Blues". He received the "Goldene Trumpet" award for over one million records sold in 1959. Fischer's career included albums such as Goldene Trompete in Stereo (1970). He lived in Switzerland until 1977 before moving to South Germany and later settling in Bergisch Gladbach-Paffrath. Fischer passed away on March 21, 1986, in Köln.
