Son 14 is a 14-member son cubano group from Santiago de Cuba formed on November 11, 1978, by Adalberto Álvarez and Eduardo 'El Tiburón' Morales. They achieved professional recognition in the Cuban music scene and released their debut studio album, A Bayamo en coche (1980), which featured the title track “A Bayamo en coche” (1980). Álvarez served as the group's director for six years before departing in 1984 to establish the orchestra Adalberto Álvarez y su Son. Their discography includes the studio recordings Son como son (1981), Adalberto Alvarez presenta Son 14 (1981), and Dámelo (1983). They also issued the album Cubanía (1997) in collaboration with Morales. Their music is characterized by energetic rhythms and traditional son cubano harmonies.
