Gilbert Bezzina, born in Tunis in 1946, is a French violinist and conductor. He studied violin at the Nice Conservatory after moving to France. Bezzina's early career involved collaborations with classical orchestras, notably the Nice Opera Orchestra, and various chamber music ensembles. His interest in 17th- and 18th-century music led him to found the Nice Early Music Society in 1965, focusing on authentic interpretation and baroque violin techniques. He worked with notable figures like Gustav Leonhardt and Jean-Claude Malgoire. In 1982, Bezzina established the Ensemble Baroque de Nice, which produced over 20 recordings and won the Grand Prix du Disque. In 1994, he became the artistic director of Vieux-Nice Baroque en Musique, organizing annual concerts in Nice's historic churches.
