Christophe Lartilleux is a French gypsy jazz guitarist who was born in 1964. He grew up in a circus environment and received early musical instruction from his father, a musician who performed with the Cirque Pinder. Lartilleux began playing piano around the age of eight. He was deeply influenced by seeing Boulou Ferré and Raphaël Faÿs on television in 1979, which led him to study the genre of gypsy jazz as well as modern jazz and hard rock. Lartilleux formed the ensemble Latcho Drom in 1993, a group dedicated to the music of the Sinti and Roma people. The band's recordings include the albums Sorcière (1993), La Verdine (1994), and Live in Madrid (2001). He also released the solo recording Toujours, Origine Manouche (2007). His significant collaborations include performing with violinist Florin Niculescu on the album Djangophonia (2002) and with the Tuxedo Big Band on the release Djangology (2003). In 2014, he released the albums Sur le chemin de ma maison and Paris Budapest Caravane. Lartilleux provided the hand-doubling for the actor Reda Kateb in the film Django (2017), where he performed the guitar techniques of Django Reinhardt.
