Hermann Breuer, born on October 27, 1942, in Munich, Germany, was a German jazz musician. He began playing piano at age four under his parents' guidance and discovered jazz at 16. Breuer studied trombone (with piano as a minor) at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München starting in 1962. He collaborated with notable musicians like Joe Haider and Gunter Hampel, and his trio accompanied artists such as Chet Baker and Benny Bailey. In the 1970s, he worked with salsa groups including Connexion Latina and played with big bands led by Slide Hampton and Gil Evans. Breuer founded Brass Jazz in 1982 and a trio with Doug Hammond in 1984. He also taught at various institutions, including the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and the Munich Conservatory. Hermann Breuer passed away on January 25, 2023, in Munich.
