Die Walter Elf, a German punk band from Kaiserslautern, was formed in 1983. Named after the "Walter-Elf," the nickname of the 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 1950s, Die Walter Elf emerged as a leading act in the local punk scene alongside the Spermbirds, with whom they shared many members. Their EP, Don't Forget the Fun!, was released in 1985. Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Die Walter Elf released several albums, including Heut' Oder Nie (1987), Die Angst Des Tormanns Beim Elfmeter (1988), and Homo Sapiens (1990). Following their farewell concert on December 17, 1991, at the Kammgarn Cultural Center in Kaiserslautern, Walter Elf reunited for additional performances at the same venue on December 20, 2002, December 30, 2005, and December 27 and 28, 2008. The band also performed at the Back to Future Festival on the Pouch peninsula near Bitterfeld on July 21, 2007. In 2010, they released their album Männer in Rot, a tribute to the 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
