Spermbirds, a German hardcore punk band, was founded in 1983 in Kaiserslautern. Influenced by UK punk bands like Wire and Angelic Upstarts, as well as American hardcore acts such as Minor Threat and Black Flag, Spermbirds released their first EP, Don't Forget The Fun!, in 1985. They produced several albums including Something To Prove (1986), Nothing Is Easy (1988), and Common Thread (1990). In 1992, Lee Hollis left the band to focus on his project 2 Bad. After a period of inactivity from 1995 to 1999, Spermbirds reunited and released Set An Example (2004) and A Columbus Feeling (2010). In 2018, the band was recognized by laut.de as one of the top 30 hardcore bands globally. Spermbirds disbanded in 2023 following Lee Hollis' departure from the group.
