Dorit Chrysler is an Austrian composer, thereminist, and sound artist born in 1966. Chrysler studied musicology at the University of Vienna before moving to New York, where the artist founded the band Halcion. Chrysler released the debut single “Schlager on Parade” in 2000. Subsequent albums include Best of Dorit Chrysler (2004), Sea of Negligence (2011), and Avalanche (2012). Chrysler has collaborated with artists including Trentemøller, Lene Lovich, Cluster, and Elliott Sharp. In 2005, Chrysler co-founded the New York Theremin Society. Compositions by the artist have been featured in the documentary Going Clear and the television series M – Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder. In 2020, Chrysler curated the compilation Theremin 100.
