Juan Antonio Espinoza Prieto, also known as Antonio Prieto, born on May 26, 1926, in Iquique, Chile, began his singing career in 1949. His breakthrough came with a performance of "Tú ¿Dónde estás?" on the radio show La Feria de los Deseos. In 1953, he joined Orquesta Casino de Sevilla and recorded songs like "Las oscuras golondrinas" and "El mar y tú". Prieto's international success started with "Violetas imperiales" in Argentina. By 1960, he was known for his distinctive style and signature song "La novia", written by his brother Joaquín Prieto. He also acted in films like La novia (1961) and hosted the television show El show de Antonio Prieto, winning a Premio Martín Fierro in 1963. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2002, Antonio Prieto retired from public life. He passed away on July 14, 2011.
