Stefan Temmingh, a recorder player born in 1978 in Cape Town, South Africa, comes from a family of musicians. He moved to Munich in 1998 to study under Markus Zahnhausen and earned his diploma at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich (2003). Temmingh's repertoire includes nearly all original Baroque literature for recorder.
He has collaborated with ensembles such as Ensemble Phoenix Munich and Berlin Lautten Compagney, performing at venues like Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele and Bavarian State Opera. His international performances span Germany, South Africa, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, France, Russia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Lebanon. Temmingh's contributions to both old and new music have earned him the 2008 scholarship of the City of Munich for New Music and the 2016 ECHO Klassik Award as Instrumentalist of the Year. Notable albums include Vivaldi & Bach's The Concertos for Recorder & Preludes (2018).
