Roger Epple is a German conductor. After studying in Munich, he began his career as Kapellmeister at the Oper Leipzig and later served as Erster Kapellmeister at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. In 1996, Epple became one of the youngest Generalmusikdirektors at the Opernhaus Halle, where he focused on the symphonic works of Gustav Mahler, Johannes Brahms, and Anton Bruckner, as well as operas by Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner. He is also recognized for his expertise in contemporary music, conducting numerous premieres. From 2012 to 2016, Epple held the position of Generalmusikdirektor at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater. His international career includes performances with notable orchestras in cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Berlin. Epple's discography, featuring releases for labels like Sony, Teldec, Capriccio, and cpo, showcases his versatility. He received an Echo-Klassik award for his recording of Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s Wachsfigurenkabinett.
