Dany Mann (born Sybille Danielle Pagel on 21 February 1938 in Stettin, Germany) was a German singer and actress whose career spanned jazz, pop and schlager. After completing her education in Hannover and studying at the Academy for Music and Theatre, she performed with the New Jazz Group Hannover and appeared at regional jazz festivals in the mid-1950s. Mann's first single, "Tingel-Tangel-Tingel" (1955), released under the Electrola label, failed to chart, but her breakthrough came in 1958 with the hit "Sexie Hexy"—a German cover of Connie Francis's "Stupid Cupid"—which established her as a prominent schlager artist. In 1957 Mann signed with Polydor, collaborating with producers such as Erich Bender and Gerhard Mendelson and working with notable musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Peter Kraus. She appeared in films such as Heimatlos (1958) and Egon Schiele – Exzesse (1981). Her final single, "Mädel ruck, ruck"(1967), marked the end of her schlager output, after which she focused on acting. Dany Mann died in Munich on 29 May 2010. Her compilations Sexie Hexy (1989) and Ich fühl' mich so …hm …hm (1999) preserve her legacy in German popular music.
