Pete Yellin, born Michael Peter Yellin on July 18, 1941 in New York City, was an American jazz saxophonist. He started playing saxophone after being inspired by Art Pepper and studied music at the Juilliard School and Brooklyn College. In the 1960s, he worked with Chick Corea, Lionel Hampton, Buddy Rich, and Tito Puente. Yellin released his debut album Dance of Allegra in 1972, followed by It's the Right Thing in 1973. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he collaborated with George Benson, Eddie Palmieri, and Bob Mintzer. Yellin also played Mintzer's big band from its inception in 1984 until 2007. Yellin also taught jazz at Long Island University. He suffered several strokes, which ultimately led to his death on April 13, 2016.
