Ruphus was a jazz-rock band from Norway. The group secured a record deal with Polydor Norway in 1973, releasing their debut album New Born Day. Ruphus gained attention through tours across Norway and Germany, as well as television appearances. Their second album, Ranshart (1974), marked their first international release. In 1976, the band evolved into a jazz-rock ensemble with producer Terje Rypdal, releasing Let Your Light Shine. The band continued to release albums such as Inner Voice (1977) and Man Made (1979). Ruphus disbanded in 1981, but their music saw a resurgence with the release of Coloured Dreams & Hidden Schemes, a double-CD featuring re-recorded tracks, in 1996.
