Undershakers was a Spanish indie band formed in September 1994 in Gijón, consisting of five female members. The band was part of the Xixón Sound movement and initially sang in English before incorporating Spanish lyrics. They gained early recognition by winning the II Concurso de Rock Universitario Ciudad de Oviedo in 1995, which led to the release of their debut EP Undershakers under Subterfuge Records. Their first full-length album, Nightshow, was released in 1996 and featured songs like "What a Life" and "Criminal Girl". The band's subsequent releases included the mini-LP Sola (1997) and albums Vudú (1998) and Perfidia (1999). Notably, they also contributed to the soundtrack of the 1999 film Shaky Carmine. The group disbanded in 2000 due to stylistic differences among members, with two founding members forming a new band called Pauline en la Playa. A post-breakup compilation album, Grandes aventuras 1994-2000, was released in 2003.
