Toy Matinee was a short-lived American rock band formed in 1988. The group consisted of Patrick Leonard, Guy Pratt, Kevin Gilbert, Brian MacLeod, and Tim Pierce. Their sound blended progressive rock, album-oriented rock, and pop influences reminiscent of the Beatles and the Beach Boys. Formed through connections made while working on Madonna's "Like a Prayer" and I'm Breathless album, Toy Matinee released their self-titled debut album in 1990 via Reprise Records. Notable tracks included "Last Plane Out", which peaked at number 23 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The band disbanded shortly after due to legal issues and member departures. Kevin Gilbert later assembled a touring band featuring Sheryl Crow for promotional activities in late 1990 and early 1991.
