John Lees' Barclay James Harvest was founded in 1998 by John Lees, guitarist, singer and original songwriter of the British band Barclay James Harvest. After the classic band disbanded in the late 1990s, two separate entities were formed: John Lees' Barclay James Harvest on the one hand, and Barclay James Harvest featuring Les Holroyd on the other - the two former founding members continuing the band's legacy separately. Under the name John Lees' BJH, the band has preserved the progressive, pastoral and melodic spirit of 1970s Barclay James Harvest, with a more faithful approach to their origins - rich arrangements, careful vocal harmonies, luminous guitars and poetic lyrics. Their debut album Revival - Live 1999, recorded live, already celebrated this return to the stage, before the release of Nexus (1999) and other live recordings such as Legacy: Live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire (2007), Live at High Voltage (2011) and Live in Concert at Metropolis Studios London (2012). Keyboardist alongside Lees since the early days of BJH, Stuart Woolly Wolstenholme, who left the original band in 1979 to return to the new line-up in 1998, passed away on December 13, 2010. A year before his death, he was replaced by Jez Smith, featured on the second studio album North (2013) and The 50th Anniversary Concert (2018). After the 2024 release of Philharmonic! The Orchestral Concert, John Lees' BJH recorded his third studio album, Relativity (2025).
