Big Dave McLean, born David McLean on August 23, 1948, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada, is a Canadian blues guitarist and singer-songwriter. Introduced to the blues as a teenager through his older brother's record collection, McLean began performing at local venues including the Regina Folk Festival and the Winnipeg Folk Festival. His career breakthrough came when he met John P. Hammond at the Mariposa Folk Festival, who encouraged his development as a musician. McLean released his debut album Muddy Waters for President in 1989. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2019 for his contributions to the blues in Canada and for mentoring emerging musicians.
