Meathook Seed was an industrial metal band formed in 1992 by Mitch Harris, guitarist of Napalm Death. The project began with Harris collaborating with Donald Tardy and Trevor Peres from Obituary, who took on vocal duties for the first album Embedded, released in April 1993 through Earache Records. This debut featured two instrumental tracks, "Sea of Tranquility" and "Embedded", showcasing a blend of alienating electronic sounds and samples by Shane Embury and Steve Guney. In 1999, Meathook Seed released their second album Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth (B.I.B.L.E.), marking a shift to an industrial rock sound. This album featured Christophe Lamouret on vocals, Ian Treacy on drums, and Shane Embury on bass, with production by Russ Russell.
