Sacrilege is an English band from Birmingham that formed in 1984. The ensemble was established by guitarist Damian Thompson and vocalist Lynda "Tam" Simpson. Before founding the group, Thompson performed in the band Warwound with the drummer Andrew Baker. Their debut studio album, Behind the Realms of Madness, was released (1985) through the labels Children of the Revolution and Pusmort. They followed this with the thrash metal album Within the Prophecy (1987). Their third recording, Turn Back Trilobite, was released (1989) and featured a musical shift toward doom metal and folk influences. The group became inactive in 1989 but resumed activity in 2014. The current lineup includes Thompson, Simpson, Frank Healy, and Spike T Smith. They began work on a new album titled Emptiness Intoxication in 2014.
