Luis Alberto Satragni, known as Beto Satragni, was born on August 27, 1955, in Canelones, Uruguay. He was a bassist and composer who spent much of his career in Argentina. In the 1970s, Satragni formed the candombe-rock band Raíces with Roberto Valencia, which featured Andrés Calamaro. In 1983, Satragni and Oscar Moro formed a duo, releasing a self-titled album featuring vocalists like Charly García, David Lebón, and Luis Alberto Spinetta. He later joined Spinetta Jade and David Lebón's band. Throughout the 1980s, he collaborated with notable musicians such as Moris, Lito Nebbia, Miguel Abuelo, León Gieco, Sandra Mihanovich, and Osvaldo Fattoruso. In 2006, Satragni returned to Uruguay and formed Montevideo Grouve. He was a key figure in the "Emergentes" movement on the Costa de Oro. Satragni passed away on September 19, 2010, due to health complications.
