The Taipei Chinese Orchestra, also known as 臺北市立國樂團, was established in 1979 by the Taipei City Government. Based in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan, it is a professional ensemble specializing in Chinese music. The orchestra's formation marked a significant milestone as the first professional Chinese orchestra in Taiwan. In November 1999, the Taipei City Government established the Department of Cultural Affairs, under which the Taipei Chinese Orchestra operated.
