Benoît Fromanger, born on May 26, 1959, in Paris, France, is a French conductor, music educator, and flutist. He studied flute at the Conservatoire National in Versailles under Roger Bourdin and continued his education at the Conservatoire de Paris. His career began as the first solo flutist for the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris and later the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Fromanger collaborated with notable conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Leonard Bernstein, and Pierre Boulez. He also performed with ensembles including the Berliner Philharmoniker. His directorial roles included leading orchestras at various festivals, notably becoming the musical director of the Symphonieorchester von Bukarest in 2011. His awards include the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros and the Diapason d’or in 2000.
