Frank Harte, born on May 14, 1933 in Chapelizod, County Dublin, Ireland, was an Irish singer. His father owned 'The Tap' pub in Chapelizod, where Frank grew up. Harte's introduction to traditional Irish singing came from hearing an itinerant sing "The Valley of Knockanure" at a fair in Boyle, County Roscommon. He became known for his distinctive Dublin accent and high register voice, often singing unaccompanied Dublin street ballads. His first two albums, Dublin Street Songs (1967) and Through Dublin City (1973), were recorded with concertina accompaniment by Alf Edwards. Harte's later works include "Bonny Light Horseman" on the album My Name Is Napoleon Bonaparte (2001). He won the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil singing competition multiple times and received the Traditional Singer of the Year award from TG4 in 2003. Harte passed away on June 27, 2005.
