Reginald John Lindsay, known as Reg Lindsay, and born on July 7, 1929, in Waverley, New South Wales, Australia, was a singer-songwriter. He began playing harmonica at two years old and learned multiple instruments. Lindsay's breakthrough came when he moved to Sydney in 1950 to compete in a radio talent quest hosted by Tim McNamara. He signed with Rodeo Records in 1951, releasing early singles like "Blue Velvet Band" and "My Home Way Out Back". His first tour was as the headliner for Wilf Carter's show in January 1955.
Lindsay recorded over 65 albums, including his final release Secrets of Life in 2007, and wrote more than 500 songs during his 50-year career. His most popular crossover hit was a cover of "Armstrong" (March 1971), which reached number 6 on the Go-Set National Top 60. He passed away on August 5, 2008.
