American boogie and electro band West Street Mob, consists of Joey Robinson Jr., Warren Moore, and singer Sabrina Gillison. The group recorded their self-titled debut album in 1981, which reached number 57 on the Billboard Black Albums chart. The single "Let's Dance (Make Your Body Move)" from this album peaked at number 18 on the Black Singles chart and number 22 on the Dance chart. In 1983, West Street Mob released their second album, Break Dance – Electric Boogie, featuring the title track that sampled "Apache" by The Incredible Bongo Band. This song became a notable cultural milestone when it was featured in Judson Laipply's Evolution of Dance video. The band also released two standalone singles, "Ooh Baby" and "Sing a Simple Song". West Street Mob disbanded in 1984, but their music continued to gain recognition. In 2004, the track "Breakdance Electric Boogie / I Can't Stop" was re-released, highlighting the enduring impact of their work. Joey Robinson Jr., son of Sugar Hill Records founder Sylvia Robinson, passed away on July 11, 2015, at the age of 53.
