Borghesia, a Slovenian electronic music/rock group formed in Ljubljana in 1982, emerged from members of alternative theatre groups Theatre FV-112/15 and Teater Performans. The band created its aesthetics using imagery of the prohibited and repressed, with a sound often compared to Electronic Body Music label pioneers like D.A.F., Manufacture, and Front 242. Borghesia's early releases included Clones (1984) and Their Laws, Our Lives (1986). They went on several Europe-wide concert tours from 1988 to 1991, which were reviewed in major music magazines such as NME and Melody Maker. Notable albums include No Hope No Fear (1987), Resistance (1989), Surveillance and Punishment (1989), and Message (1990). The band's live show in Gothenburg, Sweden, in October 1988 was broadcast on Swedish national radio. Drummer Aldo Ivančič later formed the band Bast and has produced music in Slovenia.
