Free Souffriau, born on February 8, 1980, in Ghent, Belgium, is a Belgian actress, singer, and musical performer best known for her role as Mega Mindy. She studied at the Antwerp Municipal Ballet Institute, graduating in 1998. Souffriau began her stage career performing in various musicals, earning her first leading role in the Studio 100 production Sleeping Beauty in 2002. Following her recovery from a lymph node metastasis diagnosis in 2004, she was cast in the lead role of the children’s television series Mega Mindy. In 2008, she participated in the singing competition Zo is er maar één, performing “Zoals een mooi verhaal” by Ann Christy and finishing third in the final. The performance inspired a project dedicated to songs by deceased singers, leading to the 2009 album Zingt Ann Christy: Een Beetje Anders. Her later albums include Gewoon Free (2011) and notable singles include “Zeg me Waarom” (2011) and “Pa” (2014).
