Jed Wentz is an American flutist and conductor born on July 1, 1960, in New Brighton, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1981 and a Master of Music from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 1985. Wentz performed as a soloist with ensembles including Musica Antiqua Köln and Les Musiciens du Louvre. In 1992, he founded the ensemble Musica ad Rhenum and transitioned toward conducting. He performed on historical instruments and contributed articles to journals such as Early Music and Concerto. Wentz earned a PhD from Leiden University in 2010 and served as the artistic advisor for the Utrecht Early Music Festival. His discography included recordings for labels such as Vanguard Classics and Brilliant Classics. In 1995, he received an award from the Fondazione Cini Venetia for his recording of Pietro Antonio Locatelli’s sonatas. He released a complete recording of Michel Blavet’s sonatas in 2006.
