Combattimento Consort Amsterdam was a Dutch musical group founded in 1982 by violinist Jan Willem de Vriend. The ensemble specialized in Baroque and Classical music, performing on instruments constructed in the 19th century rather than period instruments. Combattimento Consort Amsterdam released several notable albums, including Handel: Concerti Grossi Opus 3 (2007), Bach: Brandenburg Concertos (2007), and Divertimenti (2009). The group was known for its interpretations of works by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Handel, and Antonio Vivaldi. In January 2014, Jan Willem de Vriend dissolved the ensemble to focus on his conducting career, leading other members to continue under the name Combattimento.
