Roby Lakatos is a Hungarian violinist and composer from a renowned dynasty of musicians tracing back to János Bihari. A virtuoso of the Romani tradition, he blends classical music and jazz with a "gypsy" fusion style. After leaving Hungary in 1983, Lakatos gained international recognition during a long-standing residency at the Ateliers de la Grande Île in Brussels. His acclaimed discography includes Lakatos: Gypsy Violin Virtuoso (1998), Live from Budapest (1999), and As Time Goes By (2002). Renowned for his technical mastery and collaborations with artists such as Elek Bacsik—whose work "Season of the Rain" he has performed—Lakatos has performed extensively across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
