Christian Winninghoff, born February 1, 1971, in Osnabrück, is a German jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, and arranger. Winninghoff studied classical trumpet at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (1991–1993) and the Musikhochschule Köln (1993–1998). In 1995, Winninghoff won the bundesweiten Jazznachwuchswettbewerb in Leipzig with the Christian Winninghoff Group. Winninghoff recorded the album live at Getxo Jazz Festival in 1996 and the studio album La Vie in 1998. Winninghoff joined the ensemble Jazzkantine in 2000, serving as an interpreter and arranger. Winninghoff’s discography includes the albums Color Music (2004) and The Hi Hornz Project (2008). Winninghoff collaborated with musicians including Jürgen Friedrich, Ulla Oster, and Markus Stockhausen. From 1998 to 2000, Winninghoff taught trumpet at the Musikhochschule Köln before becoming a lecturer at the Städtischen Musikschule Langenfeld. Winninghoff authored textbooks including Jam Session. Improvisation in all styles and 12 Jazz Trumpet Solos.
