Millard Lamar Campbell II is an American gospel musician and songwriter born on February 13, 1964, in Indianapolis. Campbell studied music at Butler University and became a minister of music in 1987. He formed the group Lamar Campbell & Praise, which released the album Ready in 1989 through Tyscot Records. The ensemble became inactive in 1992. Campbell subsequently formed the group Spirit of Praise in 1995. The ensemble released the self-titled studio album Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise through EMI Gospel in 1998, which reached number 21 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. His discography includes the albums I Need Your Spirit (1999) and When I Think About You (2000). The latter record featured the song “More Than Anything”. Campbell released the albums Confessions of a Worshipper (2003), From the Heart (2005), and Open the Sky (2013). Six of his nine albums appeared on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart.
