Deborah Joy Voigt, born on August 4, 1960, in Wheeling, Illinois, is an American dramatic soprano. She began her musical journey at age five by joining a church choir and learning piano. After moving to California, she starred in high school musicals and won a vocal scholarship to study under Jane Paul Hummel at California State University, Fullerton. Her breakthrough came with the role of Ariadne in Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos at the Boston Lyric Opera in January 1991. She made her Metropolitan Opera debut that year in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera. Notable performances include Isolde in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde at the Vienna State Opera in May 2003. She released several albums, including Obsessions (2004) and All My Heart (2005).
