David Glazer, born on May 7, 1913, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was an American clarinetist and pedagogue. He earned a Bachelor of Education from the State Teachers College of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1935 and studied at the Berkshire Music Center of Tanglewood from 1940 to 1942. Glazer taught at the Longy School of Music from 1937 to 1942 and served as a clarinetist with the Cleveland Orchestra from 1946 to 1951. He performed as a soloist and chamber musician with the New York Woodwind Quintet until his retirement in 1985. Glazer premiered two works by Egon Wellesz, Suite for Solo Clarinet, Op. 74 (1957) and Quintet with Clarinet, Op. 81 (1959). He passed away on March 4, 2001, at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, New York.
