Alexander Alexandrovich Slobodyanik, also known as Alexander Slobodyanik, was born on September 5, 1941, in Ukraine. He was a classical pianist who began his international career with a debut tour to the United States in 1968, which included a recital at Carnegie Hall. Following this breakthrough, Slobodyanik returned regularly for tours of the United States and Canada until 1979. His notable performances include collaborations with renowned orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and New York Philharmonic. After a nine-year absence from the American concert stage, his 1988 tour was hailed by the Chicago Tribune as a "triumphant return." He died on August 10, 2008, from meningitis.
