Theodor Olof Schmuckler, known professionally as Theo Olof, was born on May 5, 1924, in Bonn, Weimar Republic, and was a violinist. He fled to the Netherlands in the 1930s to escape Nazi persecution and gave his first concert with the Concertgebouw Orchestra at age eleven under Bruno Walter's direction. Olof studied under Oskar Back and won fourth prize at the Concours Reine Élisabeth in Brussels in 1951. He was a prominent member of both the Hague Philharmonic Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Orchestra, collaborating extensively with Herman Krebbers. Olof also served as a professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague until 1982 and authored several books on his life as a violinist, including Daar sta je dan (1958). He passed away in Amsterdam on October 9, 2012.
