Natalie Clein, born on March 25, 1977, in Poole, Dorset, England, is a British classical cellist. She began playing the cello at age six and studied at the Royal College of Music, where she received the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Scholarship. Clein gained prominence after winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 1994 with her performance of Elgar's Cello Concerto. She made her concerto debut at The Proms in August 1997, performing the Haydn's Cello Concerto in C major. Clein has collaborated with various musicians and orchestras worldwide. Her discography includes notable releases such as Ernest Bloch: Voice In The Wilderness • Schelomo • From Jewish Life / Bruch: Kol Nidrei (2012) for Hyperion. In 2015, she was appointed Artist in Residence at Oxford University. Clein was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2021 New Year Honours for services to music.
