Hamlet Dimitris dze Gonashvili, sometimes referred to as The Voice of Georgia, was a Georgian tenor singer, teacher, and performer of Georgian folk music born on June 20, 1928, in Anaga, Georgian SSR. Gonashvili began a career as an interpreter of regional songs from the Kartli and Kakheti regions. In 1979, the artist was featured as the soloist on the first recording of Giya Kancheli's Third Symphony for Olympia Records. His notable releases feature the compilation album Hamlet released posthumously by JARO. He died on July 25, 1985, following an accident involving a fall from an apple tree.
