Sinate, a death/thrash metal band from New Zealand, was formed in 2001 under the name Desecrator. The group initially disbanded in 2003 when Sam Sheppard and Matt Sheppard joined 8 Foot Sativa. They reformed Sinate in June 2005 with Sean Parkinson and Antony "The Colonel" Folwell, releasing their debut album Beyond Human on September 27, 2005. Their second album, Violent Ambitions, was released on October 20, 2006, recorded in Sweden. In 2007, Sinate performed at the Big Day Out music festival and Sean Parkinson was replaced by Matt Fawcett on guitar in 2009. The band moved to Europe, initially basing themselves in Stockholm before settling in Berlin. They toured Europe supporting Marduk and Vader on their Funeral Nation Tour in early 2010 and announced signing with Apocrypha Records in November of that year for the release of their third album To the Death in 2011.
