María Martha Esther Aldunate del Campo, known professionally as Rosita Serrano, was born on 10 June 1912 in Viña del Mar, Chile, and worked as a singer. Early exposure to music came through her family, and she debuted in the 1930s with a tour alongside her mother that brought her to Berlin, where she performed at the Metropolitan Theatre and adopted the stage name Rosita Serrano. Her breakthrough arrived in 1937 with the single "Roter Mohn", recorded for Telefunken, and she soon released the EP La Piconera (1958). Throughout the 1940s she issued approximately 160 recordings, including "Schön die Musik" and "Der kleine Liebesvogel", and appeared in German films such as Der Vierte kommt nicht (1939) and Schwarze Augen (1951). After the war, she returned to Chile in 1948, performed at the Municipal Theatre, and continued recording, issuing albums such as La Paloma – Das Beste Der Chilenischen Nachtigall (1993) and the compilation The Very Best Of (2010). Rosita Serrano died on 6 April 1997 in Santiago; her career remains noted for its extensive discography and cross‑continental influence.
