The Worried Men Skiffle Group was formed in 1960 in Vienna by Gerhard "Doc" Richter and Herbert "Hiero" Janata. The band gained early traction with their blend of blues, folk, swing jazz, and Wiener Schmäh, using unconventional instruments like washboards or a wooden box. Their breakthrough came in the mid-1960s with appearances at the Vienna Jazz Club Riverboat and winning the first Folk Festival on Leopoldsberg in 1966. The band achieved significant success in the 1970s with songs like "Glaubst i bin bleed" and "Anarchistenwalzer". Notable albums include The Damn Best Dance Band in Town (1971) and I Bin A Weh (2004). In 2010, the group was awarded the Silver Decoration for Services to the City of Vienna. The Worried Men Skiffle Group disbanded in 2014 due to health and personal reasons.
