Beryl Davis, born on March 16, 1924, in Plymouth, England, was a vocalist who began her career at eight years old. She started singing with the Oscar Rabin Band, co-led by her father and saxophonist Oscar Rabin. By twelve, she performed and recorded with Django Reinhardt in Paris and toured Europe as the featured singer with the Quintette du Hot Club de France. During World War II, Davis sang for British and Allied troops and was discovered by Glenn Miller. Post-war, she moved to Los Angeles, appearing on Your Hit Parade with Frank Sinatra and joining the Four Girls singing group, which included Jane Russell and Rhonda Fleming. The group recorded sixteen singles and albums that became best sellers. She continued performing into her 80s, featuring at several concerts in the mid-2000s with guitarist John Jorgenson. Davis died on October 28, 2011, in Los Angeles from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
