Michael Borgstede, born on December 27, 1976, in Thuine, Germany, is a harpsichordist and organist. He received early musical training in piano and organ, followed by harpsichord studies under Esther Morales-Cañadas and Jacques Ogg. Borgstede's career took off when he won the York Early Music Competition and the Ben Weber Award. As a soloist and member of Musica ad Rhenum, he performed internationally in venues such as the Concertgebouw and Wigmore Hall. Notable recordings include Sämtliche Cembalowerke von François Couperin (2006) and Gesamtaufnahme der Suiten für Cembalo von G.F. Händel (2008). Borgstede also collaborated on albums like Sämtliche Flötensonaten und das Musikalische Opfer von Johann Sebastian Bach (2013) with Jed Wentz. In 2014, he became a professor of harpsichord and basso continuo at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and was appointed Vice Rector in 2021.
