Joe DeRise, born 1925/1926 in the United States of America, was an American jazz musician. He began his career as a band vocalist with Tommy Dorsey at age 21. In 1948, he joined the Claude Thornhill Orchestra and recorded "You Can't Buy Happiness" with Barbara Lynn. DeRise formed the group Four Jacks and a Jill in the 1950s, which included his future wife Patty Easton. He recorded the LP Joe Derise Sings for Bethlehem Records in 1953, performing standards like "It Might as Well Be Spring" and "How Long Has this Been Going On?". From 1969 to 1978, he toured with the Canadian doo-wop vocal quartet The Diamonds as musical director and vocalist. DeRise continued performing in venues such as The Ballroom and the Village Gate until his final performance at the Algonquin Hotel in New York in 1999. He passed away on June 24th, 2002 in Shelton, Connecticut.
